Elder Anderson Johnson: Roots of Sacred Steel $12.00

Elder Anderson spent his life preaching, singing and playing his steel guitar on the streets of America. He composed his own songs and he attracted the interest of Glory, a local record company owned by Henry Stone that produced a 45 of his song “God Don’t Like It” and others back in 1958 in Miami, Florida, for that label, in addition to the Angel and Deluxe labels. Elder Johnson, who died in 1998, remains a true pioneer of the Sacred Steel music tradition. His singing is rooted in his deep religious faith and his artistic sensibilities ignore popular artistic conventions. This album includes both Elder Anderson's music and interviews with him, truly a unique portrait of a musical pioneer.
